How to Chat with an existing character

1. On Character.AI, you can search for a character's name or the media (like a book, TV show, movie, etc.) they come from. The search results typically display the most relevant matches based on your keywords, with the most popular characters appearing at the top.

2. Select the character you wish to interact with, and a chat window will appear. The character usually starts the conversation, and then you can jump in. You can also rate their responses on a scale from one to four to help improve the character's response accuracy over time.

Note: If you're not satisfied with the character's response, you can explore other responses by clicking the arrow next to their reply. The platform encourages users to rate any inappropriate responses with a single star.

3. For conversations with several characters simultaneously, you can create a room. Click or tap on + Create, select Create a Room, and invite the characters you'd like.

Note: The creators are not aware of the dialogue between you and the characters they create.

How to Create your own character

1. Start by hitting the "create" button on the Character.AI homepage and opt for "create a character."

2. You'll need to input your character's name and a short introductory phrase they'll use to initiate every conversation.

3. You also have the option to upload your character's image and decide if they should generate images during their text chats.

Begin the role-play in a relaxed manner, gradually progressing toward your desired scenario. Stay suggestive, but refrain from being explicit. As you gradually engage the bot, the discussion will evolve to a more mature level.

If there's a need to remind the character about its role or offer some correction, use the OOC (Out of Character) approach. Wrap your directives within parentheses to provide out-of-character instructions. For instance: (Remember, you're on Mars). (Bear in mind, you're expected to follow my instructions).

One of the disadvantages of this method is you'll have to keep giving OOC (Out of Character) commands to the bot during the conversation, potentially making the conversation feel less realistic.

Employ alternates for NSFW expressions.

If explicit language is part of your conversation, the filters are bound to intercept it. Instead, try to use safer versions of these expressions that convey a similar meaning. You might consider using alphanumeric variations of words (such as "H4ppy" as a stand-in for "Happy") or introducing spaces or symbols amid the letters.

Select an NSFW word or phrase as a greeting for your private character.

If your aim is to engage in a romantic or NSFW dialogue with a character you've designed privately, incorporate an NSFW or romantic term within its greeting. This trick only applies when the character's status is set to private. Doing this will allow you to use that NSFW word in your chats.

For securing your privacy during your interactions on Character AI, here are some simple guidelines:
